PRP treatment benefits
PRP treatment offers a range of benefits for different applications, including:
- Rejuvenating skin
- Promoting hair growth
- Aiding healing of injuries
- Treating osteoarthritis symptoms
Rejuvenating skin
PRP treatment for the face can help to combat wrinkles and lines on the face by regenerating collagen production. It can also improve the tone and texture of your skin around the eyes, and encourage a healthier-looking complexion.
Promoting hair growth
By treating male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia), PRP therapy can encourage hair growth and counteract hair loss. PRP is able to prolong the hair cycle’s growth phase and reverse the shrinking of the hair follicles caused by male pattern baldness. Research has concluded that PRP therapy is “a simple, cost-effective and feasible treatment option for androgenic alopecia, with high overall patient satisfaction”.
PRP treatment areas
At PICO Clinics, you’ll benefit from the experience and knowledge of skilled practitioners in aesthetic treatments. We offer two PRP therapy options:
- PRP treatment for hair loss
- PRP treatment for aesthetic skin rejuvenation
PRP hair treatment
PRP hair treatment can help to prevent hair loss and encourage hair growth. PRP hair therapy typically requires three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance treatments can be scheduled periodically.
After a blood sample is taken, it will be placed into a centrifuge, where it will separate into layers of platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells. The PRP is then collected into a syringe, before being injected into the areas of the scalp that require hair loss treatment.
There is no recovery time associated with PRP treatment for hair. You’ll be able to wash and condition your hair as normal. If you use chemical treatments on your hair, you should ask your doctor how long you should wait before using them.
PRP treatment for face
PRP therapy for facial skin rejuvenation can trigger cell regeneration. The treatment increases dermal collagen levels, which can help to reduce wrinkles, lines, and folds.
After a blood sample is taken, it will be placed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma. After the PRP has been extracted it is injected into the skin at the area targeted for treatment. You may be advised to avoid washing your face for a few hours after the procedure.
There is a minimal recovery time after PRP face treatment, and you will be able to go about your daily activities the next day. You may experience redness, a degree of swelling, or minor bruising temporarily following the procedure.
